Message	doesn't matter what you say/do/act, if the judge is in a foul mood, you are hosed. The judge can do WHATEVER he/she wants with your case. Throw you in jail, dismiss it, reduce the charge/fine, etc. I've gone and asked for a 1 mph reduction in the ticket so I could take defensive driving. I even told the judge I'd pay the higher fine and court costs if I could just get the ticket reduced by 1 mph. Didn't give the cop any hasle when I was stopped, in fact, he didn't even have to pull onto the highway to get to me I pulled over so quickly for him. Told the judge "I'm not going to give you some BS story or lie to you for why I was speeding, I'm just asking that you reduce the ticket by 1 mph" Jusge asked the cop and he said I did everything by the book, didn't give him any trouble, talk back to him, be sarcastic, etc. The judge said "You were speeding and my hands are tied, I can't reduce the ticket." BS, the judge can do anything they want. Also, I was the *only* person in that courtroom not in shorts, a football jersey, T-shirt, sandals, etc. The only one. *Every* otehr person got a reduction in fine or ticket but me. They were mostly small-time criminals as well. Shoplifters, fights, truancy, etc. Lots of them were multiple offenders and said "Judge, I can't afford to pay $600", so the judge would reduce it to $25. Then the guy who is dressed nicely and has some manners comes up (me). Screw him, he actually has some money, don't cut him a break. While I was waiting for my ticket to come up, a female in the court actually stood up and yelled "Yo judge, what up with this be taking so long?! I gots places to be and don't need to be spending all my day here in yo court!! When do's I get out of this place, I gots places to be, yo!" That wa about the caliber of ppl in the court getting breaks while I got screwed. Hire a lawyer, you don't even need to go to court, the lawyer is buddy-buddy with the DA/judge and gets your case reduced/thrown out. That's the way it works. Sad, but true.
